About the tournament
Every level, one weekend.
Southern Peninsula Basketball Association hosts its annual junior representative tournament across the Mornington Peninsula and surrounding regions, from the evening of Friday 6 November through to Sunday 8 November 2026.
We host close to 800 teams and cater for every skill level, from the Championship division, which draws the top twenty sides in the state, right through to regional level teams in Division 6.
Teams are re-graded on their VJBL ranking once entries close, so your side spends the weekend playing opponents at its own level. The tournament runs in three geographic sections, South, Central and North, which keeps travel down and makes accommodation easier to plan.

Where should my team be graded?
Once all teams are entered we re-grade them on their VJBL ranking, so you play against the level of team you would meet in grading. Use this as a rough guide when you enter.
Pool 1 → Championship
Pool 2 → Championship (higher teams) or Division 1
Pool 3 and 4 → Division 1 or 2
Pool 5 and 6 → Division 2 or 3
Pool 7 and 8 → Division 3 or 4
Pool 9 and 10 → Division 4 or 5
Pool 11 and above → Division 6
If your team does not play VJBL, enter your best estimate and we will review it during grading. The guide shifts depending on how many teams of each level enter. Country based rep teams that do not play VJBL will be prompted to provide more information.
Where will my team play, South, Central or North?
The tournament splits into three sections so travel stays low and accommodation is easier to plan.
U10 → North and Central
U12 → South and Central
U14 → North and Central

On any one day we aim to keep a team playing locally, at the same venue where possible and otherwise within the same section.
How many games will my team play?
Every team plays a minimum of four games across the weekend, plus a grand final if your team makes it.
Do teams play on the Friday?
Friday evening games are required for teams which are within 60 minutes of Dromana and do not already have a club organised practice match.
What is the Championship division?
Championship attracts the best teams in the state, typically sides from the top twenty, vying for a position in Victorian Championship.
Can domestic teams enter?
Not for the representative tournament, with the exception of U10s. Our community tournament runs each July and is the right fit for domestic teams.
Is there a spectator entry fee?
No. The team entry fee covers all player and spectator entry for the weekend.
Referees
Whistle for the biggest junior weekend in the state.
Great pay, food at every venue, accommodation for travelling referees on Friday and Saturday nights, and a travel allowance for crews coming from more than an hour away.
A closed media event.
Only accredited photographers and videographers may capture photos or footage at any tournament venue. This applies to everyone attending, including parents, family members, coaches, team staff and spectators.

What requires accreditation
Accreditation is required for any photography or filming using:
- DSLR, mirrorless or film cameras of any kind
- Detachable, telephoto or long-lens equipment
- Video cameras, camcorders and cinema cameras
- Tripods, monopods, gimbals and stabilisers
- Drones or any remotely operated aerial device, which are prohibited at all venues regardless of accreditation
- Court-side or fixed recording setups, including phones or tablets mounted on tripods or stands
- Boom microphones, external audio recorders and lighting equipment
- Any equipment used to livestream or broadcast
Personal photography
Parents and family members may take handheld photos or short video of their own child or their own team on a mobile phone, without accreditation. These images are for personal use only and must not be posted publicly where other children are identifiable without the permission of their parent or guardian.
Photography and filming is not permitted at any time in change rooms, bathrooms, or first aid and medical areas.
Applying for accreditation
Teams may nominate photographers or videographers at the time of team registration. There is no limit on the number of people a team can nominate. A current Victorian Working with Children Check must be supplied for each person before accreditation is granted.
Media outlets that wish to photograph or film the tournament must also apply using the media accreditation form, and can email martin.ramos@sthpen.com.au for further information about the tournament if needed.
Applications close Monday 26 October 2026. Accreditation cannot be applied for or issued once the tournament has started, so nominations must be made before that date.
Approved applicants will be emailed a digital accreditation pass. This pass, together with the physical Working with Children Check card, must be carried at all times and shown on request.
During the tournament
Tournament staff will check accreditation at every venue across the weekend. Anyone photographing or filming without valid accreditation will be asked to stop and put equipment away, and may be asked to leave the venue if not complying with directions from staff. Accreditation may be withdrawn at any time.
If your child's image has been used online in our official tournament gallery and you wish it to be removed, please email martin.ramos@sthpen.com.au with a screenshot of the image and they will be taken down.
