Restriction Update | 23rd June 2021

Following today’s announced easing of restrictions, the SPBA Operations Staff have met in relation to our return to basketball in accordance with Government and Basketball Victoria Guidelines.

As of Friday 25th June, the following will be in place:

Government restrictions in place mean that:

  • There is a maximum of 300 people inside any venue at any one time (including staff). Additionally, a density limit of 50 people per court.
  • Masks continue to be mandatory inside unless actively playing, coaching or officiating.
  • QR code check in is still mandatory.

Junior Domestic Competition (U9 – U18)

  • All junior domestic competition will resume from Saturday 26th June, 2021.
  • Games on Thursday 24th June have been cancelled – all games will reflect a draw. This is due to the density caps required to safely run competition not being released until midnight that day.
  • There will only be 1 parent/guardian permitted per player. A dependant may only attend with a parent/guardian if they legitimately have no other care alternative. This is important as we can only have 50 people per court.
  • Game slots will be 45 minutes as normal.
  • Entry will not be permitted to venues unless sign in is done via the QR code system. Random spot checks will occur also.
  • We recommend players do not arrive any sooner than 10 minutes prior to their game.

Senior Domestic Competition (U21s, Senior Men, Senior Women & Mixed)

  • Senior competition will continue with time slots returning to 45 minute time slots from Sunday 27th June onwards.
  • Spectators are allowed back within the venue (subject to the below limit).
  • There must be no more than 20 people per playing group, inclusive of players, spectators, parent/guardians & scorers.
  • Entry will not be permitted to venues unless sign in is done via the QR code system. Random spot checks will occur also.
  • We recommend players do not arrive any sooner than 10 minutes prior to their game.

Junior Representative (VJBL)

  • VJBL will recommence competition as of this Friday 25th June as per the fixture on the VJBL website.
  • As of Friday 25th June, there will be no limit on group sizes for trainings.
  • Parents/guardians/spectator caps are still to be advised by VJBL.

Senior Representative (Big V)

  • Big V will recommence competition from Saturday 26th June as per the fixture on the Big V website.
  • Density limits are still to be advised by Basketball Victoria which will dictate the situation with spectators.
