Player Pathway: Darcy Jones
Southern Peninsula Basketball Association is proud of our pathways for our players. Hear from 16 year old Darcy Jones about his pathway so far!
Most memorable experience so far?
“My favourite experience I have had would definitely have to be travelling up to Darwin to play with the state team at the Australian Junior Championships and more specifically playing against Victoria Metro in the gold medal game.”
What are your goals?
“At the moment my goals are to make the U18s Country State Team, and to be offered a scholarship to go to the Australian Institute of Sport Centre of Excellence.”
What tips do you have to aspiring junior athletes?
“Nothing will ever come easy, and if you want to get somewhere you have to put in the work. For me, I always wanted to be a great shooter, so I had to get up thousands of shots to improve and perfect my shot.”
How did you get started in basketball?
“Back when I was about 5 years old, I would watch my brother and dad play every week, so I instantly wanted to play. I joined a domestic team with some friends through my primary school at Red Hill, and that’s where I fell in love with the game.”
