McKinnon To Lead The Way

Southern Peninsula Basketball Association is extremely excited to announce James McKinnon as our new Director of Coaching & High Performance.

James comes to us with a range of experience, most recently leading the University of Lethbridge to the playoffs earlier this year. In James playing experience he has played across College programs, NBL1, Big V and VJBL and prides himself in defence.

SPBA General Manager, Ben White, commented on the appointment saying “We are thrilled to welcome J-Mac to the club. We are confident he is the perfect person to lead the club forward on the court. The role in which it is now structured sees this position oversee all coaching within the association including our programs and inclusion. While James will also work closely with our Junior Representative teams and high performance athletes.”

James commented “I’m grateful for the opportunity to work with the Southern Peninsula Basketball Association. I’ve watched the program from afar for a many years and seen the great work done in progressing athletes and coaches.
“It great to be back on home soil and help the next generation of athletes and coaches. I’m looking forward to progressing the program and continue the great reputation that I’ve been able to see.”
“Looking forward to working with the current coaches and athletes in pursuit of their goals as well as working towards the Association’s Vision”.

James will start in the near future and progressively build into this position as our operations increase as COVID-19 restrictions ease.
