High Performance
Developing Future Athletes
Our organisation is dedicated to nurturing and developing talented young athletes, providing them with the tools and resources they need to excel both on and off the court.
About the High Performance Program
At Southern Peninsula Basketball Association (SPBA), we offer a High Performance Program led by Head of Basketball, Matt Brasser, alongside a team of experienced coaches. This program delivers specialised coaching to help athletes expand their knowledge, enhance their skills, and reach their full potential.
Expert Coaching & Pathways
Our Head Coaches, Matt Brasser and Eliza West, work closely with Basketball Victoria’s High Performance Coaches to create a dynamic and supportive coaching environment. The program aims to equip athletes with the skills needed to succeed at collegiate, state, and national levels, preparing them for future achievements.
Program Benefits
Participants in the High Performance Program receive:
- Weekly specialised coaching
- Regular athlete reviews
- Video analyses
- Pathway development planning
We take pride in our history of producing state and national representatives and assisting players in securing college scholarships. Our program is designed to help athletes excel in elite pathways.
Selection Process & Fees
The High Performance Program operates separately from our VJBL Program and has its own associated costs and fees. Athletes are selected through various channels, including:
- Observing games
- Attending training sessions
- Reviewing game footage
- Consultation with VJBL Head Coaches
Selections occur on a term-by-term basis, ensuring a competitive environment where athletes must consistently demonstrate their commitment and capabilities.
⚠️ Please note: Selection into a VJBL team does not guarantee inclusion in the High Performance Program.
