Gerard Hillier Resigns
Dear Members,
It is with much sadness that we as a board have accepted the resignation of Gerard Hillier as Director of Coaching and Pathways. Gerard has recently been appointed to the role of High-Performance Hub Lead Coach (Casey Region) at Basketball Victoria and decided to move on as a staff member of the SPBA. Gerard’s new role includes responsibilities for the Southern Peninsula so he will continue to work closely with many of our athletes. He will also continue in an official capacity with the Sharks as he will remain as the Head Coach of the Senior Women’s Program and look to assist the Junior Program where needed.
Gerard has been with the Association for nine years starting in an administration role before moving into coaching. He has forged a reputation as an outstanding coach. Gerard has passed on a great deal of knowledge to many of our players and coaches. He has experienced team success both at Junior and Senior levels. Personally, Gerard has risen through the ranks of basketball coaching, reaching the level of Australian Head Coach (3×3) for the Youth Olympics.
Gerard has forged many quality relationships at the SPBA, those friendships, we are sure, will continue. We wish Gerard and his family all the best for his future and success in whichever direction his career takes him (hopefully it includes a championship with our women’s program).
