Country Basketball League
The Southern Peninsula Basketball Association is currently seeking Expressions of Interest for the 2018/19 Country Basketball League Season.
The Country Basketball League (CBL) is an open age home and away domestic representative league held across three conferences in regional Victoria from October to February. The SPBA will accept Expressions of Interest from players from our u16 age group and above.
With the withdrawal of our Youth League programs, the Country Basketball League fills the opportunity within our Development Pathway for players to gain experience against older, experienced competition whilst also playing meaningful roles.
The beauty of the CBL;
1) It is not age restricted.
Not being age restricted means we can field more experienced players in the side, which is great for the learning of the younger athletes as well as the ongoing development of the more experienced players.
2) It is not ran at the same time as our Senior BigV programs.
With CBL being ran during the BigV off season, the SPBA does not have the issue of conflicting commitments between Youth League and the Senior Team.
The CBL competition is ran from October – February with matches played most weekends. The SPBA will fall under the Gippsland Conference which will include but may not be limited to playing a home and away fixture against teams from; Warragul, Moe, Maffra, Churchill, Traralgon, Sale, Korumburra and Bairnsdale.
If you are interested in joining either the Men’s or the Women’s CBL side for the 2018/19 season, please contact Director of Coaching and Pathways, Gerard Hillier at ghillier@sharksbasketball.com.au
