Brasser Added To On Court Leadership

Southern Peninsula Basketball Association is extremely excited to announce  the addition of Matt Brasser to our on court leadership group as the Assistant Director of Coaching & High Performance.

With the recent appointment of James McKinnon to the Director of Coaching & High Performance position, we are thrilled to be able to add Brasser to the team to help lead us forward. James McKinnon commented on the appointment saying “I am excited to work with Matt, his experience in developing younger athletes will be greatly beneficial. I’m looking forward to learning from him and also helping him become a better coach. We had some great on court battles in our playing days pushing each other to better players, I only think that’ll be continued off the court and working to become better coaches.”

Matt started his domestic career in the SPBA at the age of 6, quickly working his way through the Southern Peninsula pathway and eventually being offered a scholarship to the University of Northern Oklahoma.
On returning to Australia, Matt starred for the Chelsea Gulls in their Championship Division. In 2019 he played with the Southern Peninsula CBL team, which came runners up.
While at Chelsea Matt developed a real passion for helping young ballers reach their full potential. He honed his coaching skills with a number of VJBL teams guiding them through the metro pathway.

Matt brings a great deal of personal experience to all aspects of the program from the high-performance through to the community based level.
For Matt coaching is more than just developing a player on-court. He believes strongly that his role is holistic approach to player develop teaching values and ethics that players can take with them throughout life.
